GLEN ELLYN PUBLIC LIBRARY KICKS OFF SPRING WITH 3RD ANNUAL S.T.E.A.M. FAIR SATURDAY, MARCH 19, 2016
The community is invited to the Glen Ellyn Public Library’s 3rd Annual S.T.E.A.M. Fair on Saturday, March 19, 2016 from 10:00 am – 3:00 pm.
Kids of all ages will have a chance to explore a variety of exhibits showcasing the many different faces of STEAM (science, technology, engineering, art and math). Exhibitors include returning favorites as well as new, soon to be favorites. See below for a full list of participating exhibitors.
“Libraries are places of learning, discovery, and exploration,” said Renee Grassi, Youth Department Director. “It's a natural fit for us to provide families with programs like our annual STEAM Fair."
Families can experience the magic of chemistry, engage in improvisation, hear about the solar system, and so much more! To learn more about each exhibit, visit gepl.org/steam.
“STEAM is a great way to spend the day at the library and have fun with the whole family,” said Christina Keasler, Middle School Librarian. “From robots to electricity to collaborative art, everyone will find something that will interest and inspire them.”
One new exhibit this year will be the library’s Digital Media Lab. People can take their picture in front of the green screen (choosing one of the available background images), or record a short video about their favorite aspect of the library. Kids and adults will also have the opportunity to check out some of the other technology the library has to offer, such as our Surface Table, Spheros, and 3D Printers.
Throughout March, April and May, the library will hold numerous programs for both kids and adults to continue exploring STEAM. A full list of programs is available at gepl.org/steam.
"We hope participants will walk away having learned something new, but also with an appreciation and better understanding of STEAM concepts and how they relate to our world," said Grassi.
