On Friday, October 16 at 7:30 PM, the Glen Ellyn Historical Society presents a program featuring Dr. David Maas, Professor Emeritus of History at Wheaton College and author of the book, Marching to the Drumbeat of Abolition: Wheaton College in the Civil War.
The program is at the Glen Ellyn History Center, 800 N. Main Street and is free to the public.
This event is a continuing effort to commemorate the 150th anniversary of the Civil War. Starting with the broad background of the Civil War, Dr. Maas will shift to a close examination of the response in DuPage County, and end with the stories of a few Glen Ellyn families caught in the vortex of war. The lecture will last approximately 45 minutes and be followed by a question and answer session.Salt Creek War Roundtable is sponsoring this event.
The Annual Civil War Book Sale begins at 6:30 PM. Come early and shop at the Civil War Book Sale. All proceeds from the book sale go to Battlefield Preservation.
