The Village of Glen Ellyn is seeking qualified candidates to fill a temporary, seasonal Planning Intern position to assist in the Community Development Department. The Planning Intern supports the daily activities of the Planning Division and works on a variety of projects related to planning, zoning, development, and related matters. The Planning Intern will interact with members of the Zoning Board of Appeals, Architectural Appearance Commission, and the Plan Commission through presentations at public meetings. The internship provides opportunities for mentoring and exposure to complex community planning efforts.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:
QUALIFICATION REQUIREMENTS:
All employees must be at least 18 years of age at the time of application and must possess a high school diploma or equivalent. A valid driver’s license is required at the time of application.
The Village welcomes applications from qualified candidates who effectively demonstrate excellent verbal and written communication skills, and the ability to maintain professionalism in a fast-paced workplace. Successful candidates will be proficient in standard office software (e.g. Microsoft Word, Excel, PowerPoint and Windows-based programs), and performing basic mathematical calculations.
WORK SCHEDULE:
Monday-Friday, 8:00 am to 4:30 pm. from approximately May through August.
SALARY/BENEFITS:
The pay offered for this temporary, seasonal, non-exempt position is $20.00/hour. This position offers accrued paid time off beginning the first day of employment.
