DESCRIPTION:
The Village of Glen Ellyn is seeking qualified candidates for the full-time position of Staff Accountant. The job duties of the Staff Accountant include, but are not limited to, performing advanced professional level duties and responsibilities in the field of accounting; preparing and maintaining account ledgers, reporting of financial data, formulating reports and reconciliations; processing liability and workers compensation insurance claims; assisting with special projects and providing efficient and courteous service to Village residents, employees and the general public.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:
QUALIFICATION REQUIREMENTS:
Candidates applying for this position must possess a bachelor’s degree in accounting or related field, along with two (2) years of professional experience, OR an equivalent combination of education, training, and experience.
The Village is seeking a candidate who maintains a professional demeanor when dealing with the public and the ability to communicate effectively, both verbally and in writing, with a variety of stakeholders (e.g. residents, employees and senior management). The position requires the ability to instruct and train in methods and procedures; work independently, efficiently plan work and establish priorities; along with comprehend, retain and apply Village, State and Federal polices and legislation.
The successful candidate will be able to demonstrate previous experience using enterprise financial/accounting software systems; prior experience using MUNIS (Tyler Technologies) would be ideal. Candidates must be computer savvy, and have excellent MS Office software skills (e.g. Word, Excel, Outlook, and PowerPoint).
WORK SCHEDULE
8:00 am to 4:30 pm, Monday through Friday with occasional additional hours required.
SALARY/BENEFITS:
This is a full-time, non-exempt (overtime eligible) position with full benefits and participation in the Illinois Municipal Retirement Fund (IMRF), a defined benefit retirement plan. Our comprehensive benefits package also includes health, dental, and vision insurance, life/AD&D coverage, flexible spending, transit, 457 deferred compensation plan, paid time off, a wellness incentive program, and tuition reimbursement. The salary range for this position is $72,989 to $102,184, with an anticipated starting salary of $72,989 to $87,586 depending on qualifications.
